Need for Speed on 3D shutter glasses?
26.07.03 at 17:40:48

Anyone know how to get NFS 3 or 4 to work on shutter glasses in glide?  I've got the games running in glide and the glasses work perfectly in all my other glide games (Deus Ex again  Grin).

I think the problem is because the games bypass glide2x.dll by using the Voodoo2a.dll that's in the game folder.  This means the stereo wrapper is bypassed.  I've tried replacing the file with glide2x.dll but it doesn't work (Voodoo2a.dll is a much smaller file).

The games must work this way because I've read several favourable reviews.  Of course the reviews may date from the time when the Metabyte drivers overwrote the primary Voodoo2 driver instead of just installing a wrapper.  Sad

Anyone got any ideas?

Solved it!  Grin

The NFS games that use glide use a file called voodoo2a.dll in the game's directory. This is described as the game's "3D rash module". The later version (1999.05.04.1506) is simply not compatible with Metabyte's stereo glide driver. Just replace it with the earlier version (1998.07.31.1005).  The games will now work beautifully in full 3D on stereo shutter glasses with Metabyte's eyeScream drivers on a Voodoo2.

Bet no one else on Earth ever needs to know this but there it is anyway.  Wink
