Civilization 3/Voodoo 3 2000/XP issues
30.03.09 at 07:45:21

Ok, so I dual boot Win98se and XP.  My stats are celeron 533mhz, 384 megs ram and a Voodoo 3 2000 16 meg vid card.  under Win98 , Civ3 runs like clockwork, BUT in XP it starts ok, the Infogrammes logo shows fine, but when it comes to the game main menu, only music, no video.  The game readme states it needs Opengl....what I can I do about this; other drivers?  The ones I use now, seem to work in 98, but not XP.  I am pretty sure I am running one of the SFFT's but I can't say for sure, cause I've tried alot of different ones.

98 uses a different driver set than XP (XP uses the NT/2000 core)

thx.  Will try and reply back later.

EDIT:  Stupid me, I already have that driver, I just forgot about it.  I downloaded it before to try and get Hot Rod: American Street Drag to run on XP, but it didn't work.  But, maybe it'll help this problem I have with Civ3.  thx for the info.

EDIT:  Well I tried it, and at first it didn't work but then I had an idea: I set the compatibility to run as it was set for win98bucksavage and it ran.  But then a thought hit me, and I rolled the driver back to the one I had installed previously and tried the game again under win98bucksavage compatibility and it ran still.  Cool!  Thx for the help everybody.
