Silkscreen = this is the white marking for each component on the board.

It denotes the size, shape and orientation of each component.

Well, long story short, below is how my first soldering experince went.  The card booted just fine and ran UT for 20+ minutes w/o a problem.  I did a a horrible job soldering.. so I might practive a bit more before I touch another 3dfx card (if i ever have to again).

Now I wonder if the cap is actually making contact like it should.  From what you guys said it works fine without it... So how would I know whether or not it made good contact... I guess I dont care. it works.  Smiley

Your technique needs a little work... Tongue Undecided

You can test if it's making contact by using the "continuity" setting on a multimeter. Wink

5$ for a PCI V5 5500 MAC with DVI and VGA ?  Shocked I'm starting to hate my country even more, here people would ask like 200$ for something like that and we are paid way less then in Germany or USA.

Anyway, congrats on your new card and good luck with your site.

That sure looks like a Craig's List posting.  Oops, the secret is out Wink

But seriously, you got an awesome deal.  There's a "regular" PCI 5500 card on ebay right now going for $167.  Just plain crazy......or more money than sense Tongue

I guess there's more collectors for 3dfx stuff these days.  Luckily, I have a nice stockpile of 5500s and V2s to last me until I'm old and gray.

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner!  No secret.. I was hoping that someone would know what that was..

I actually found that by using crazedlist.org and craigshelper.com, both sites allow you to search all craigslists in the US or Worldwide at once!

Well I just got another few cards in the mail.  This 5500 agp being one of them.  It came to me in the worst condition I have ever seen, there was so much "smoker junk" in the fans that they would barely turn.  (shame on you who smoke near your 3dfx rig)

Well long story short, about 20-30 minutes of cleaning and now the card is looking a lot better.  I will give it another scrub down a bit later.  It feels good to save a 3dfx card from a shitty home, kind of like saving an abused kitten or something Smiley

...

*EDIT: I wish that I would have taken pictures before hand... but I was in a rush to get that thing cleaned up.. felt bad for the d*mn thing Smiley

Hello again guys, I just won the auction below and now I have a few questions.  Does anyone have a power supply for this thing that they are willing to sell? or maybe know someone that does or where I can get one?  Also, can it be used in any motherboard or does it need to be somethine specific? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Smiley

When I get the PSU I probably wouldn't use it very often if at all.  Just bought it to add to my collection.  Plus, to my knowledge, I got a fairly good deal on the board.  So I guess I will keep my eyes open for the PSU. Smiley

1) Chances are no.

2) Q3D won't sell any of thier spares and TKPower is out of business.

3) I don't think motherboard matters on these, they have run on every intel board I have tried.
