Voodoo 3 3000 voodoo needed???

Hi there

Im having trouble getting the appropriate driver to play my game - Black and White.

This one worked before, but now it wont...

I had this one saved, but now it wont work - I can download it, but when its on my pc it wont open, it just keeps wanting unzipping infinitely.....

So does anyone know what I should do?

The sprites on Black and White, esp. trees and people are messed up - thats the problem.

Any help much appreciated

For this problem, might be a Directx driver issue, or if the archive didn't unpacked properly, the files might be damaged, or incomplete!

Download again the archive, or re-copy it, and try again.

Hi there

The problem is, that before I could download the driver that i pointed out in my first post and the game Black and White would work fine - all the sprites looked normal (especially trees and people).

Now, i download the driver, try to unzip it and it doesnt do it properly, its like it wants continual unzipping even after ive downloaded the file......i think its the actual driver problem (i guess u could download it if u wished to verify that??)

So now the sprites are all messed up Sad

and i cannot play

Hm, did you reinstall the OS or the Game before the error occured ?

If so, maybe the problem is not the Driver itself, but an Ingame-Setting (Detail level etc.) you forgot you had previously set ?

Same applies for Advanced Driver Options, that you might have set differently than previously, as well as running a different DirectX Version.

From what I read about Black&White and Voodoo3 should be a nice combination, no problems expected.

I know, but can you confirm that you

- did not re-install the OS
- did not re-install the Game
- did not re-install or upgrade DirectX Version
- the Game ran perfect with the V1.07.00 Driver before

?

Without those details, it is impossible to assist you, since you leave us in the dark about what you changed on your System, and (most important) why (whatever you changed) Roll Eyes

And "I don't think" does not help either unfortunately, you'll have to verify everything, step-by-step.

Trust me, a single Option in the Advanced 3dfx setup, a single Setting in the Game itself, or a Different setup of the OS itself or DirectX can change alot, and is enough to make something fail that previously worked.

I am so not very techie at this kind of thing:

erm, did i re-install the OS, to be honest i had played the game infrequently, so cannot gauge the timescale very accurately, as im asking for my sister who loves the game.........so i cannot be sure. i think not, but im not 100%, which im sorry, as this doesnt help u trying to help me.

the only thing im sure of, is when ive got the driver from the *old* site of drivers which ALWAYS rectified the sprite problem, this time it didnt work. in fact when i installed the driver on to the pc, when i unzipped it, it wouldnt unzip properly (as if it wanted to continually unzip, once ,twice, thrice etc etc).

This is the one i always used that until now worked fine:

Do you think i should uninstall the game, and start from scratch, and then see where it goes?

Reply #11 - 09.09.03 at 15:09:58 I have run start it no problem. system and directx files are fine not so sure about the display though? its says: hardware accelerated diret3d 9+ is not available because the driver does not support it.... also says my main driver isnt digitally signed ?????
