Those V3's with black PCB's sure are beautifull.

Very nice card indeed.
Other cards with DFP connector were cards from 3Dlabs or Number Nine if needed to test and compare.

That's a different connector I believe, what you are referring to is I believe the SGI 1600SW flatpanel connector (OpenLDI interface)

    * Formac ProFormance 3 (special version with OpenLDI)
    * Number Nine Revolution IV (special version with OpenLDI)
    * 3D Labs Oxygen VX1-1600SW

The first and the last are the same card basically.

I had once one of these monitors hoked up to a Number Nine card don't remember the exact model thou.

In the specs it says DFP; still during those days there wasn't a common standard in this regard so you might be right that it wasn't the same.

Very cool that you had one.  Cool

The first and last card have roughly the same chip, the latter has got the R3 version of the Permedia III which had some added workstation functionality. That's probably what you ment, instead of the same board. Smiley

Here are the 3Dlabs cards I have with DFP namely GVX1 an easy find.

...

And this is the VX1-1600SW that has a sticker on the back stating Formac.
For comparison of the ports is a Savage 4 Pro with DFP

...

Unfortunately i don't have a 3dfx card with DFP port soldered on.

PCB Date 5198, chip date 9852
and yes mine is a 4 layer card.

At what frequency does your card run?
Seen this article where one could do 183Mhz.

Very Interesting G1nx! I never knew the Formac 3 was also launched with the VX-1 chip, they were announced and released as having a Permedia 3 chip, but apparently somewhere along the way they also released Proformance 3's with the R3 chip. Very interesting indeed.

Darn thing wasn't a 3dfx card afterall, it's a Trident Blade3D Lips Sealed

The manual has the same 3dfx interactive logo as on the box (upper right) but the left the 'fx interactive' part from it. But then why would they leave it on the box? Undecided

*Cough* Lazy manufacturer! *Cough*

I wonder for which 3dfx card the box was intended.

Not complaining though, I needed a 4MiB Trident Blade3D anyway Tongue

I have an ST with a V2 in it too, but that box is blue-ish, this one is purple-ish.
