Daytona...hmm, no way - it should compete with GF3, no chance - GF3 was very fast, Quake3 fly on GF3, I remember my Ti200 - when I saw more than 100 fps in Q3 in 1600x1200x32 bit - and the image quality - holly shit. DX8...

Daytona was a cheaper version of Napalm, it wasn't supposed to compete with the Geforce3 but with the Geforce2 MX cards.

You missed what I was getting at.

3dfx had plans for a V5-6000 with 4 Daytona chips.

LOL. That would have been another monster card. That's not the way to go Sad Just put 4-8 chips on a card.

But ... just a crazy ideea - how about a V5 6000 PCI with 2 or even 3-4 SLI connectors  Roll Eyes

True, but the idea how (DDR) 250Mhz x4 would have been awesome.

Thing is, the 6000 would have never come out if Rampage was on time. Even Napalm probably wouldn't have existed.

Oh well, this is the history, faster or slower then the opposition, the 6000 is still one beautiful piece of engineering.  Cheesy

I think Rampage Technology was on time indeed. Napalm series sadly was delayed; Voodoo4 4500 would have face cards like GeForce256, but was released when cards like GeForce2 GTS already came out...

Now, the point is: when you get late, what do you do? Admit to have missed the train and goes back to home, or you try it?

Well, after months of development, time passed to fix hardware problems and a lot of money in tecnology research, I would try it! ^^

True to some degree, both Voodoo 3 and Napalm were fillers till Rampage was done.

A low end part was still needed in the market though for OEM's, Daytona was to fill this segment.
