Screen shaking whenever I turn on FSAA
08.04.08 at 01:50:48

So the image shakes horribly whenever I try using FSAA. Doesn't matter which game everything from Diablo II to UT. I've noticed this under several sets of drivers. Tried playing around with the Jitter control on the drivers that have it but it doesn't seem to help. Sometimes it will fix seem to fix the problem then when I restart the game it comes right back.
Current setup

Raziel evo_lite under 9x
and
x3dfx under XP
v5 5500 agp

Any thoughts?

Definitely sounds driver related. Shocked

Uninstall the drivers you use now and download as install this one :

AmigaMerlin 2.9 -

tried those, and sfft (about 3 different releases) it's still there. I personally have major compatibility issues with the amiga-sfft drivers. fate, morrowind, thief 1& 2, vampire: bloodlines and a few others. probably just me but I stay away from them. thanks for the reply though.

Have you tried the card in another system?

yeah several (around 10 I think) I rebuild and upgrade PCs for a living so I have lots of spare hardware laying around. I've noticed this problem off and on since I got the card a few years ago.

Have you tried running the card in "Single-chip Mode"?  Maybe one of the VSA-100's is fxcked up.  I would try that, if that doesnt work, maybe try "underclocking" it.  And if that doesnt work, I would suggest finding a replacement.  Hopefully we wont have to say the following:

"R.I.P. v5 5500 agp"

yeah single chip works... i guess, it doesn't shake anyway. tell the truth I never noticed a difference with single chip enabled could be the card was screwed when I got it though it even though it was sealed in the box. meh I've been contemplating buying a pci v4 so I can run a modern multicore system anyway.

Well, I guess its a good thing that we determined what might have been wrong with the card... the bad part is that only half of your v5 appears to be working properly.  Purchasing a pci v4 4500 or v5 5500 will probably suit your needs best.  I hope you can find one for a decent deal Smiley

If anything your 5500 agp will make a nice display piece.  Or you can still use it in its current functioning form, the only thing is that it will run like a 4500 (one vsa-100)

Good luck Bud!
