Napalm at 180nm?
16.12.13 at 16:10:50

So I just had a brainfart;

Napalm was made at 250nm. Daytona was made at 180nm.

Did 3dfx ever have a batch of Napalm's made at 180nm?

I think they took the napalm, added ddr support to it, did it on 0.18 micron and decided to call it daytona.

Daytona is in my opinion Napalm V1.2

I know that. I was just wondering if they made Napalm at 180nm while still being pin-compatible with 250nm Napalm.

Would allow for some great overclocking potential.

I doubt about the pin to pin compatibility.
A die shrink of VSA100 at 180nm would need less power than original design. So all the power implantation on a V4500 or V5500 would have to be redone to work, like what happen to Intel LGA 775 when the company switch from P4 to C2D...
