Midnight GT on Voodoo˛
14.11.02 at 20:15:14

I have problems running Midnight GT from Rage Software. After selecting the Voodoo˛ driver in the setup dialog i start the game normally. The title screen appears but i can't see any text in the menu and after i started the game blind(!) i hear sound but i don't see anything. I tried the game on a computer from a friend of mine (also Voodoo˛) but it didn't work too.Exact the same Problem. The system requirements are Processor=266MHz Graphiccard=12MB Direct 3D and DirectX 7. There is a slogan "Playable on 266MHz and Voodoo˛". I checked the Rage site but didn't find any patches. Does someone has experience with this game ond 3DFX?

Regards,
Andreas

Neither the german publisher (a magazine called PC-Games that realeased it with docs on CD in a nice DVD-Box wich i bought) nor Rage Software themself seem to know this great racing game. I checked that it works on a Voodooł and on GForce2 as i played it on a computer of a friend of mine. And the game is really racing fun...

Andreas

...i am stuck. I've clicked myself through more than 50 sites google listed, some in japanese, some in russian, and couldn't find any patch or official information about the game. There were sites with infos concerning a dreamcast version of the game and some reviews but the way rage-software handles the game (not mention it everywhere) makes me feel that it was never realeased in a standard way. I've found a website with a review of a graphic-card (gforce-based) wich was bundled with Midnight GT. So maybe this was a Bundle-OEM-Game specialized for Gforce-Chips and the german realease by PC-Games (and the minimum requirements) was a mistake  ???

Regards,
Andreas

P.S.
Tracks and cars in this game, when the back-cover-text is true, are designed my a guy named "PININFARINA". Searching for him on google shocked me with 69000 entries. He must be very popular.

could be a direct x problem , some games are specific , like Requiem it`s 3dfx but , needs a patch to run on newer versions of direct x . And also pod is useless with out the exact sys requirements .

I've backed up my Win98 installation directly afrer install (no drivers or updates), but even with the dx7 tha game includes it does not work. On the gamezone.com site in the links above the minimum requirements are a "4MB AGP Video Card". I have a ATI Xpert@Work 4MB AGP RAGE PRO and even with this card it refuses to work as well as on a S3TRIO3D AGP 8MB (tested on an other system).

Andreas

AMD Outside  Cry

The game runs only on Intel and Athlon CPU's and not on K6'es. It play's smooth on a friends PII 350 with a Voodooł.

(the mini is not a mistake as you can read : "Minimum system requirements : a Pentium II, 266MHz with something like an 8 Meg Voodoo2")

Very interesting the sharkyextreme paper.  An interview with the game´s designer, where he says Midnight Gt was based, among others, in NFS III.  What catched my atention were the screenshots, that resembled, for me anyway, the atmosphere of the demo of NFS Underground. Something like a 8 years feedback !
It would be very nice playing it!

Havn't seen the additions in your first post, sorry.

I don't know anything about NFSU except a german TV ad. The style if the city (not the cars) really looks similar to to first level of MGT. I can't say anything about the higher MGT levels  as i only played it once on a friends computer (Athlon XP - GF2-MX) to test if the game works on a different system.

Andreas

In fact I´m not adicted to pc games, but I have liked very much playing NFS Porsche with the Andrei glide patch, and, considering the demo, NFSU seems to be even better (hard-core technologie). But I´m afraid it doesn´t run in a voodoo, unless Andrei make us a surprize, he...he...he...!

Hey, NFSU runs on a Voodoo !
I was able to play it on Win98 with x3dfx 1.07 driver and V5-5000.

Great, any issues ?  The game is quite heavy, I didn´t even try it in my V3.
Can you post some screeshots ?
