Early 2000 retro rig - which soundcard?

Hi lads! It's time to build a new retro rig, this time a early 2000, 3dfx-biased state-of-art machine Smiley So my chosen components are:

AMD Athlon 1000 MHz Slot A
Asus K7V-T
3dfx Voodoo 5 5500 AGP
256MB SDRAM
Windows 98 SE

And now I need a perfect soundcard, here are my candidates that I currently own:
...

Which of them should I choose in your opinion? My aim is to play games from years ~1998-2000 (especially Unreal, Half-Life, Quake 2, Quake 3, Unreal Tournament, hmmm Max Payne maybe?), so I guess AWE64 is already out of the game. Now, which of the remaining two would be better for this purpose?

Subquestion: Could you help me identify this Aureal Vortex 2 (exact model name would be perfect):
...
...

Another subquestion: Could you provide me with the best drivers for both of the cards? I couldn't find any good working ones, although I used some time ago KX drivers with SB Live! under Windows XP.

Asus K7V-T has no ISA slot, so the AWE64 gold you proposed is out of the question, even though I would opt for that one out of the three. It has an excellent stereo output which rocks when connected to some good HiFi stereo and the games you mention are mostly stereo.

Live! I dont like. It has muffled sound for my taste. Aureal vortex may be a better choice.

In the end, it doesnt really matter since the games you will play are all direct sound compatible and they will sound the best with the most recent sound card - Audigy or X-Fi, or similar.

P.S. That aureal looks like a turtle beach model. Try googling for turtle beach aureal 2 drivers.

It looks neither like Turtle Beach Montego Quadzilla nor Diamond Monster MX300, it is most similar (PCB) to Aureal Vortex SQ2500, although the chip is different:
