I face the hard facts: I for one suck big time at U.T. play, but I joyned Paul's server last times anyway; I have played just for the fun of that great game and for the best company, the friends from this forum (something like going out for a beer with your mates in week-end, but because we are from all over the world, the a game-party will be fine enough...).
Now, if the rocket launcher would be banned from Paul's server next time, I would still most certainly claim the last place anyway, and Obi is so expert at this that he will still have a big chance to win yet another time, so I see no reason to argue about it; it would be something new than last time, but often new is better. Remember, we played U.T. Demo last week, then U.T. Retail this time, so I have nothing against new rules for next week-end. And Obi has showed the level at he is mastering the gameplay so it would be no problem for him to addapt; I guess it is all and only about principles here, right? If I understood correctly, no rocket launchers equals longer "frags" (it takes more time to kill someone), right?
Remember, it is only a game and it should not be played only for winning, but for the fun especialy (I should know, I had 10 time less frags than Paul or Obi, he-he, so why am I still doing it...).

Nah it's not about adapting , heh the flak cannon is my next big thing it's even more dangerous as well Grin

heh I even have to suffer lag while gaming , which isn't easy as it may seem too Wink

it's just a matter of playing, the most obvious thing I have seen on Mega LAN's with like 400 to 1200 people is that they always keep in the default weapons, the rocket Launcher is a default weapen the Redeemer is not, and imho that's a ghey weapon, I suppose it should be banned from the entire UT series.

but to ban the Rocket Launcher is pure nonsense, it's a handy tool as well, it's something that should stay, just practice and practice, my friends here oin town PWN me with ease heh, they train in Godlike mode have spreads of + 30 to +50 with ease, I really show no chance of survival there.

if you want to be a good and loyal player as server runner keep in all standard weapons so everyone has thier favours.
if you loose so many battles don't see the Darkside in that, all you have to do is keep practicing your skills thereby it's the only way for a victorious ending.

Anyways my appologies for my rough reactions back there Paulpsomiadis, it just got a little outa hand because it felt kinda aimed at me again. Undecided

The new rules are mostly for the sake of @Komponent - he has not had much practice... Wink

...so by eliminating the 'insta-kill' weapons like the Redeemer and Rocket Launcher, it will mean it's harder to frag people who have just respawned. Grin

It's a TEST, if I get a good response from players - the rules stay - if not then they don't! Cheesy

It's that simple! Smiley

@Obi_Wan - WOW! That's odd, the Flak Cannon is also my favourite! 8)

hmm I 'm still in for the rocket launcher heh that will never change.

Since it was like my idea to start a topic about this, I would rather have the Rocket Launcher been kept in the game, really a Flak Cannon is much more dangerous.

So to make things fair:

You keep your favouite weapon I keep mine simple and plain, if not I will find another server cheers.

I used to play UNREAL with my daughter (Co-op) and we had a great time when UT came out I bought it hoping there would be some single/co-op mode levels. My daughter didn't like the fact that her Daddy was trying to kill her. Needless to say, I only played the game against the bots as I only had dial-up at the time. It didn't take long before I got bored with it and put the game away and started playing Quake II.

Then I heard about a single player map, something like Return to Nepali not sure. I downloaded it and started playing it. Finally enjoying the game I bought what 8 years ago??

I'll try to get it running on my 98SE 500MHz Voodoo2 machine. I know I'm not any good at Anarchy mode (Descent terminology) but I'll try. It will be good to hang out with my friends anyway. Maybe I'll let my ol' lady start out to sort of test the waters for me Roll Eyes I spent too much time on Descent which makes her sick. She does better on FPS games. I do better when I drive or fly.

Hey, thanks Paul, it is very nice of you to have thought this way, but, please, do not stand for me, It is realy not necesary, because as I did say earlyer on this topic, no instant-kill weapons rules most sure will not make a difference for my final number of points (frags) at the end of the game. I play for fun and I will play again with you, what-ever rules might apply in the future games. I used to do better way back in the past, but in the whole year 2006 and until this month I have not played U.T. or other shooter more than a couple of hours, plus that now I only have a crap of a old mouse with ball, because my optical one died along with my former mainboard, so now if I still can do arround 5 kills I'm happy enough. I know that I could get better only by more practice, but to be fair, U.T. is not the game that I like so much, I am more into car/moto-racing driving games, as for shooters I like the most the Delta-Force series. This are no way excuses, but I play U.T. only because it is to fight against you, the loyal 3DFX fans that I respect alot.
I have to admit though that I would like better longer life-spans and with instant kill weapons it gets difficult for me to survive more, but, hey, if that is the way the game works, please do not change it for the only reason to give me better chances. Well, the redeemer... I do not like it, but the rocket launchers allthough deadly it looks like a fair weapon, as I saw experienced players like Paul and Obi could indeed dodge in time.
What I allmost hate is the low gravity! I cannot keep enough controll... I know, I know, practice, practice...
So please agree on a set of rules guys and I will still be there!

well this is [b]exactly what I was aiming at, the redeemer is indeed a ghey weapon, that weapon should be expelled from any type of RTS game, but like you said about the Rocket Launcher is true all the way, and indeed Paul made lot's of usage of that weapon like I did, and yeaps we both had our collisions there Wink

I will agree that the redeemer will be expelled which is an obvious rule, but to expel the Rocket Launcher is something totally rediculous since there are more dangerous weapons that a Rocket Launcher it's self, look deeper on what you can use and how to use instead of the number of the weapon it's self.

Let The Force Clear your mind and then make good sensible use of it, instead of removing default weapons there by running away from the problem, that's a loser's tactic.

Those getting the "version de mismatch" do the following... Wink

What you do is go into the UnrealTournament/System folder and either delete or move (out of that folder) the de.u and de.int files. Then you will download them off of the server and have the correct versions.  

MUTATORS on my server

Zeroping - helps reduce lag
No Redeemer - does what it says
Instant rockets - no MULTI rocket shooting

Stuff you might not know about U.T. Grin

Redeemer message:
Get a Redeemer(warhead launcher) then fire a missile with the Left Mouse Button. Quickly enable the playersonly code and move to the missile. You can see the message "Adios" on the missile. Note: You may need to enable the 32 bit Revolution option to see this.

Smiley face on bomb:
Enable the loaded code to get all of the weapons. Then, enable the playersonly code to stop time. Next, select the flak cannon. Walk up to an enemy and press the Right Mouse Button to use the bomb-like shot. Look very closely at the bomb as it hovers in midair. You will be able to make out a small smiley face icon inside the shot.
