TDHQ Voodooł Drivers
08.05.03 at 20:03:19

Has anyone kept the BETA 7 or BETA 10 Voodooł drivers from TDHQ to work? In both of them DXDIAG says there is no 3d acceleration. I used a clean install with directx.

Regards,
Andreas

P.S.
The latest X3DFX driver for V4/5 also works on V3 if you force it. Of course the AA options don't work. By the way has anyone experience with the X3DFX V3 drivers software AA? I could not see any difference after restart. I used the Forsaken main menu where are many stair effects visible for testing.

Do you have win xp/me/9x ?

9x and Me:
I got 3dhq beta drivers to work with voodoo3 when I first installed Amigamerlin 2.9. Then I installed 3dhq drivers and after that I hadn't directx problems any more.

seems that more been changed in 3dhq drivers than people relize

I filecompared the components of TDHQ BETA 10 and except for INF, INI, TXT's and V_Control they are byteidentical to 3DFX original  Voodooł (OGL/GLIDE) and VSA (2D/D3D) drivercomponents. What i've seen till now the only really new components (not tweaked INF's what is hard enough to find all the variables in the dll's and make REG settings for the INF) are Koolsmoky's and Colourless's Glides and Xpentor's TweakGL.

Andreas

P.S.
I compared  Voodooł drivers 1.07.00 and 1.07.00b and the beta. In 3dmark 99max Race is 1 and FPS 2 fps slower. In 3dmark 2000 the beta is sometimes more than 6 fps lower. All with same 3dfx-tools options and v-sync off.

I use 98SE. By the way the the 1.07.00b is only 3fps slower in the practial benchmarks not 6 (sorry, my typo on the numpad).  In both 3DMarks the 1.07.00b is faster in the theoretical benches but slower in the practical ones. I followed all benchmark rules with same options for both drivers and assume the results are accurate. There is at least one bug in the 1.07.00b. In 3dmark 2001SE there is one more option called compressed textures activated by default. In the 1.07.00 this option was not visible. But the Voodooł only supports the normal 332 and the NCC compressed 8BIT textures and not S3TC/DXTC wich 3dmark tried to use causing many objects to appear untextured. By the way the Voodooł also does not support FXT1 compressed textures according to the specs.

Andreas
