Socket A cooler....

Looking for a quiet socket A cooler that can handle a 3200+ Barton core. I have a Thermaltake Volcano series on the thing but I didn't realize how loud it was until after I built my main box. Well, after installing Win 7 on my main box, I want to install it on this thing and give it to my daughter... but it's loud as hell and it's going in the living room (refuse to put a pc in her room- at least until she's old enough to be responsible with it).

I found these two http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/Products.aspx?C=1329 but not sure how quiet they are.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I realize it's getting a little old but it still works pretty good for almost six years old and it's got a X1950 Pro card in it.

You can try searching something at thermalright.com They are quality heatsink, very efficients. The bad is that they not have any fan included, but this is the good also, because you can choose your own quiet fan

Reply #4 - 30.11.09 at 16:59:51 Hi jandarsun8 I have a couple extra Spire Whisper Rock V socket A coolers. They were for my Tyan Tiger MPX board with 2600+ MP CPUs. I had bought 4, but only needed 2. It comes with retail box and instructions.

Reply #9 - 06.12.09 at 00:08:12 I happen to have a Barton 3000+ on my gaming rig at the moment. I currently use this overclocking HSF for socket 370 I bought years ago. If I can get the name of it, I might be able to tell you. Not much is known, but socket 370 HSFs are compatible with Socket A CPUs and vice versa.

I use the same and its true what you say, but its incredibly big and literally dwarfs everything in the case. If I'd found Thermalright SLK600 I would have used that one instead.

Thermalright SLK-600 with a quiet 12" or even 8" would cool down any barton - even an overclocked one.

Reply #12 - 09.03.10 at 10:18:30 Nearly every "silent" CPU cooler I've bought comes with a crappy fan that gets loud after 3 months. Even my zalman equiped graphics card developed and annoying ticking sound recently and you cant get a replacement fan in my country.
