Flight Simulator X Deluxe Edition obtained!
29.10.06 at 04:06:04

Well finally the Flight sim of my dreams was completed Smiley

Microsoft Flight Simulator X Deluxe Edition

I ran it with a reasonable framerate @ 1440 x 900 x32 max settings and this was the outstanding result!
...

This ran on 1280 x 800 x32 High settings @ Rotterdam International
...

It did run, but my X1900 XTX was really having a hard time , so dense some places, Sint Maarten went fine @ 1440 x 900 x32 max settings FSAA x6 AF x16 though a second X1900 aka a CrossFire Edition card would be reccomended to get perfect smooth gameplay, my ram well about 1.5GB was used at the max reso and settings heh Crikey!

When you fly low you can see whales swimming!, even they come up for a breezer, when fly's low ever afrikan lands you see herds of Elephants, giraffs, zebra's you name it what really lives there is truely running around! So much detail makes FXX simply the best simulator I have seen.

I am planned to get the X1900 CFE card with an Ageia PPU card since they are really needed, because some locations are really begging for more rendering power, heh no need to ask why Smiley

Another nice shot from Antartica Smiley

Hm, no offense...

But a Radeon X800pro should Render those images without performance Problems, considering how basic the visuals are (IMHO)

Sorry, but that looks highly unspectacular, I expected the Visuals to be 10 fold the Detail nowadays (?)
(the low-Res Texture Problems apparently remain, just like in the early days)

The Antarctica Shot would be able to run on any Pixel Shader equipped card, for example (very low res lighting there)

Looks like typical MicroSoft inefficiency in my view.

No offence at all FalconFly I can understand what you mean Smiley by my thoughts lay different hehe Smiley

Well it looks amazing to me, your X850 Pro isn't gonna like it at max settings Roll Eyes believe me it 's very heavy with everything maxed out.

remember this is a flight simulator no simple FPS or RTS game Wink the whole planet is being rendered in 3D even boats, cars trains are moving about.

The Graphics are quite spectacular for a flight sim. The people of the dutch Flight Simulator boards are very impressed as well. only thing disabled is the HDR effects and blooming, that's too tough for my X1900 XTX really, @ 1440 x 900 x32 with max settings, FSAA x6 AF x16 + max HDR it's a real no go.

Give it a go yourself and Find out Wink the X850 Pro isn't gonna like it, it can't even do HDR , so it does miss a nice important feature also.

Most people say Flight sims look bad because they don't understand in most cases what they are about, ofcourse you could add alot more like professional ones have but then again where's the logic in that? there isn't any.

I have been do'n flight sim's since 1988 and really this is simply the best one I have seen and along time.

The Antartica shot is alot nicer in movement those darkspots are shadows of the clouds passing byt, seems logic that it looks odd in a screen shot hehe Smiley
it looks fantastic when flying w00t!

The handeling of the aircraft, the feel of each type is different, you get the feeling of movement which is also hard to get in many other flight sim's I have been testing and there is even current in the water, you can see the waves break, you can see the ripples on the water's surface, the higher you fly the rounder the world view becomes, I have missed those features in other sims, this one makes usage of meshes in which every coastline, hills mountain ranges are different and made in precise detail to the real thing, do remember the whole planet is being rendered not just a single map  or level like in Half Life 2 Wink This some far beyond things like that and far more complex even the aircraft details is far beyond other simulator's I have met.

If I use the same max settings in Rotterdam, Amsterdam area it's no fun at all every building that exsists is there, so crowdy, all the cars, truck, busses, boat, ship traffic is there too so much things all at once , wildlife like birds and other animals are around as well very hectic but nice to see in a sim Smiley

it's not only big jets you can use also heli's Ultra lights and gliders to scout around Smiley
You can download the weather of the exact location where you are at, in Multiplayer you can be the aircontroler in the Control tower, the possibillities in the game have improved quite alot.

soon Ultimate Terrain for Flight Simulator X will be ready with even more detail.

Flight Simulator X Deluxe Edition will keep me away from everything for quite some time, it's just an escape to another place, it gave me my freedom to infinity allrighty Smiley

so to be honest the fastest PC's of today could just render this with a fluid play @ 1680 x1050 x32, the setups of today are hav'n a very hard time with FSX, just being able to render everything perfectly in the most dense locations in the most hectic situations.

Looks like the same as flight sim 2000. Same crappy houses as flight sim 2004. If you want to check fitchburg airport fitchburg Mass. could you. I know in flight simulator 2004 microsoft placed trees on the runway. Just wondering if it is different in flight simulator X

for a Flight simulator the graphics rule, sinc e@ 39.000 feet everything looks photographic, most FPS'ers have the same reactions I'm gett'n here, sigh. Roll Eyes

the houses have enough detail for a flight sim for a FPS I would say no they don't if you are gonna make the houses like they are in RL you would need heaps of CPU power to render everthing, the CPU's of today just would never beable to cope with that.
B, and no FS2004 has far lesser detail in t as FSX, the Aircraft for instance look far more detailed as the landscapes do, since I have all settings @ High there are the settings Very High and Ultra High above my settings, pusshing the graphics higher than mine + adding HDR thing look alot different.

since I'm low on funds for keep buying new sh*t I have to do on what I have , as a true Flight Sim user for years this is the best one I have seen so far, about the trees on the runway , did you install the patch? 9.1? I never seen tree's on a runway before Roll Eyes lol.

The detail of the oceans look amzing in this onem anyways it's the closest thing on a normal PC toowards the real thing the feeling of the aircraft, they way they work and so on, many Flight Sim clubshere too, so cool.

But if you don't like it, that is then your dicission of it.

FSX is for me the best out there, no violence just piece and great to explore the world. for the extra detail there are gonna be some great packs called Ultimate terrain...

Well, my point was similar.

In high Altitute, all Ground Textured Flight sims from 1999 (beginning with the ancient Jetfighter III in 1996) look very good .

The difference is : does it look the same in 1000 feet or when taxiing on the Ground ?

IMHO, it should, considering today's computing and GPU power.
Yet, I'm seeing the same "economic" pattern on Textures, Shaders and Lighting, which I just find disappointing in 2006, that's it.

No harm done, none intended Smiley

Jetfighter III (1996) :
... ...
... ... ...

Needless to say, today's FS X looks better... Just not good enough for what is possible for the Hardware.

Didn't you know that FSX supports DirectX 10 Wink
here some screenshots of FSX in MAX details in DX9.0c then heh since DX10 ain't ready yet Smiley
http://www.avsim.com/pages/0106/FSX/fsx_thumbs.html it
it looks far better than in high settings 8)

here's part Grin 80 Grin of the dutch Flight Simulator forum Smiley
http://gathering.tweakers.net/forum/list_messages/1173823//
If MS Flight Simulator X was so bad why are there so many using it today eh? Flight Simulator exsists for about 25 years and is there for the most used, fanatised and most detailed Flight sim on the market.

For me it's pure freedom, it put's my mind somewhere else, it's a type of therapy for my mind.

But hey I can understand for the ones that don't like it hehe, anyways you have your tastes for what is nice or not and I have mine Wink

Just don't wanna make this topic messy just because we have defferent feelings and meaning for things Smiley

Otherwise we'd better close it then, don't wan't it to outcome as a new problem for others.

norries Smiley

those screenies are all settings set to max details and + HDR Wink hehe my poor system does not likei it when I tease it that way LOL hahaha work damn it haha oh well in DX10 it will look even better, I can't wait then ehhe Smiley

yeah but be'n a jet fighter pilot seems to be alot different than a be;n a pilot of a Grumman Goose G21-A or a B737-800 right? or do some certain things come acros?

btw I found a real classic on the attic here, remember JetFighter II from Velocity Cheesy

I used to spend hours with that on my first PC Cheesy
YF23 & F16-D were my favourites Smiley it also has the mission pack named: Operation Lightning Storm which includes a new plane aka Lockheed/Boeing/Mcdonnel Douglas YF-22 Lightning II upgrade Smiley I still play it sometimes just for the fun of things Smiley

here a nice site about Jet Fighter II Smiley
http://www.chielie.nl/jf2.html

ah what a CLASSIC! Tongue was that hehe also the first flight sim I did with Jet fighter planes Smiley
...
... ...

here the box shots of the missionpack : Operation Lightning Storm:
... ...

The real Lightning II now is the F35 aka the Joint Strike Fighter, and the YF-22 Lightning II is now called F22-Raptor kinda confusing for some Smiley

anyways I have added a nice plane for FSX Smiley

Easyjet B738 [Boeing 737-800] Smiley

well they loved it Cheesy

did a demo with the B738 from Transavia Smiley around the Sint Maarten area Smiley

gave them a tour on how the plane worked, a tour of the island showed them all the different views of the plane and so on and they all loved it Smiley

today I came across 2 shots showing FSX in DX9 graphics and DX 10 graphics

FSX in DX9.0c:
...

FSX in DX10.0:
...

Man! DX10 looks very real I must say, it's actually an artist's impression from a programmer of the Flight Simulator X team on how FSX will look like in max settings in DX10 mode. Shocked 8)

The G80 and R600 is gonna be some great new inventions to fly around in places with those graphics effects Crikey!
