Question about openGL
13.07.04 at 22:52:13

Hi. I'm really new to graphics and I'm really confused. My laptop is a Sis m650 integrated chipset. It's quite horrible as many of you know. From what I know, it doesn't support openGL. Thus when I tried running a few small games, it doesn't work.

I decided to try glDirect from scitech which says it emulates openGL by using DirectX. (I think it's same code as Mesa) So I don't know what's going on. glDirect came with a demo folder of openGL demos programs. I ran all those programs and it worked fine. None of them didn't work. And I even disabled glDirect. So now I'm confused.

Does my chipset support openGL or does it not? If it doesn't how could I run those demos? If I could, why can't I run some of the games I downloaded.

Btw, the small game I tried was freeride earth from www.graphitx.com (Maybe it's not openGL then)

Please help. Thx.

As far as I know you can even run OpenGL-Programs in software rendering, but that would be slow...
Maybe you are able to run some demos in software but the games you tried require hardware acceleration...
