Postcode 7F means that an error occured and the Bios is waiting for a keyboard input (like F1 for example). So the board initialized main functions (CPU, memory and most other things) but detected an error.

Try to boot with a different card as "main" display card and the Rev A0 as "slave". You could also use a AGP2PCI adapter with the Rev A0.
Within Windows you could check if VSA100s are detected.

If YES, chances are high you've got only a corrupt bios Smiley If NOT a hardware defect/problem is very likely.

Regarding your 8k3a+ problem, check for the capacitors. If any of them are "belly" you know what to do Wink

Looks like the card is dead. (a guy can only be so lucky)  I guess I will never know if it worked or not, the guy said it was pulled from a working system but who knows with those recycling places that part out computers.  The card is in EXCELLENT physical condition, has the cool rework and NFR stickers.  I doubt my 8K3A+ killed the card...(as a regular 5500 AGP runs just fine in it, and my V6K runs great in it too)

Per our friend Hank Semenec: "Boot to DOS, then execute PCI.EXE. You should see several devices, the ones you are looking for are 121Ah (3dfx). If you see the device then your card is alive and just the BIOS is nuked. If you do not see the 3DFX signature, say good bye to the card."

Tested in another spare 8K3A+ to just see if maybe it was a "quirk". (it is still a prototype)  PCI.exe did not detect the card.

...

Also tested on a Asus P3V 4X, also not detecting the card.

...

So not I have to figure out what to do with the card.. either keep it as it is still a neat piece... or sell it as non functional. (unless there could be steps to try and fix it...) Unless there are some other steps I can try?

Well that's bad Sad No I don't have any further idea. Have you also tested it with an AGP2PCI adapter?

If you want to get rid of it, let me know.

Check if the voltage regulator that powers the GPUs is working.
...
With a multimeter see if on the marked leg you get aprox. 2.8V with the card inserted into slot and the computer powered up.

I don't have a AGP2PCI adapter to test with.. but I did hook up a multimeter as suggested.  Reads 2.18V at the low end and 2.42V at the high end. (I just left it hooked up for a few minutes and it varied)  Pretty constant at 2.27V though.

I don't know if that is close enough to 2.8-3.0V.. so with that being said, anything else I can try or does that narrow down the issue?

Might be a multimeter issue, but to be sure pop in a working Voodoo5 and do the same measurement. If it reads arround 2.8V replace the voltage regulator on the proto card.

Just did that now.  My functional 5500 AGP always reads 2.9V or more.  Looks like I have a project on my hands Cheesy

/edit - Just hooked up the Rev.A0 card again and it was only at 2.10V at the voltage regulator. (and the same at C37 and C66, which I was informed stores the supply voltage for the VSA100)

It did look like a power issue, but it still might be a different failure so keep us posted after you replace the voltage regulator with a proven working one. Good luck!

Hello, everyone!

I've come across a GARNET GV-2000SD card on eBay, comes from China.
This seemed interesting to me as even Gary doesn't mention this card on his site.
But as I'm not very keen on collecting V3 cards, I hope to help someone who is.

Ah, you are probably thinking of that RevA0 1500 that wasn't working.  I ended up selling that because I didn't want to damage it when trying to repair it.

This is a 4x AGP card that is fully functional Smiley
