Yes he did, got tired of all the accusations by FalconFly (Nasty PM's)

Hmmm....
I sense old sentiments resurrected from long forgotten 3dfx Forum battlefields.

"Nasty PM's" ?

I'm not aware of any, they've been very direct and clear but never crossed any limit an adult person would account for as "nasty"

, and instead of taking it my way, Obi got his only problematic Thread moved to a new Forum Section, where it resides open and accessible to this day.

I guess you only know one side of the Story.

Everything that had to be said during that timeframe was said, and the case closed (at least that's how I treated it).

Anything else I have no information about and it's not my business what people decide to do outside this little Forum. Anything I should know nonetheless ?

-----------------

My Opinion about the single Thread I see being talked about stands as it is :
- someone with too much time at hands and too little filtering/common sense spammed the Forum with just about anything ATI coming from any major Hardware News Site - all blessed with "a tad" too much enthusiasm and bias to add to injury.

It may just be my Opinion, but I just happen run the show when things go out of bounds - and my opinion is ultimately the measure...
The result was the only compromise I could possibly accept.

If any User is unable to accept that then I will not yield any further.
Everyone on this Forum has been free to join but also free to discontinue the use of it.
Noone was ever asked to come, noone ever asked to stay - this game is free-for-all and it'll stay that way until it will cease to exist.

For over 5 years this worked exceptionally well, so that can't be so terribly wrong...

On a more personal sidenote :
Ultimatly, I've covered Obi's arse more often than I can count and took - to my best abilities - personal care of whatever Problem he took onto me. That got him a semi-privileged status noone else in this Forum ever received, even against all odds.
But there's a limit to anything, even to my patience, diplomacy and kind understanding.
And if - in turn - I request something once from that very same person and receive zero cooperation on the issue - I guess that's a valid boundary reached, isn't it ?

Hmm tell me then. How is a post regarding exciting new information (kept within a thread) of new hardware on a hardware Forum Spam?

I'm thinking you just didn't like seeing something labelled ATi (due to a preference for 3dfx) and used that bias to place a thread which in no way shape or form constituted spam into a socalled twilight zone.

It's your forum, but don't come out making excuses. None of them are believable. Quite frankly I was hoping for an apology but I suppose you're above that Oh Mighty overlord.

Do as you please...

A post (or a few) about exiting new hardware would have been perfectly legit, noone would have ever opposed it.

Multiply it by 50, however, and add a frequency and irrelevance / speculative nature that doesn't really help anyone - or is a repeated plain copy of other News Site's reviews.... That does become a Problem.

Speaking for myself, I currently write this on an ATI Card, haven't anything else in regular use for years now. So nothing wrong with ATI for sure, but I don't need a Spam Thread made out of it (or any other product)

Important note -
An Admin makes decisions and technically does not even require any reason behind them.
I made decisions and gave the best reasoning I could possibly give.

I never wrote any excuse, nor do I need any excuse, because there's nothing or nobody on earth that I own any.

Apology ?
Me ?
To you ?

Name one single, valid reason and you'll win an ATI 2900XT, free international shipping & handling.

If you think I'm that "evil, overlord Admin" that rules poor, "subordinate Forum Members" as I please... Well, you must be the new guy in the Forum I guess.

If the "Twilight Zone" is such a terrible place, well, that is reversible... All can be undone with just a few modifications, and at this moment, I couldn't care less if that's what the majority of the Forum wants.
Maybe it is an illusion to keep up a Forum's Quality standards over such a long time, but maybe not...

Not that I know much about it but things like 'ATi is very cool and does very well' and 'those nVidiots are just a bunch of weird fellows' and 'nVidia will never be better than 3dfx' sounds like a sort of spam to me. To be honest I've read more then enough of those sorts of sentences, I don't want to read a personal preference in a discussiontopic, I wan't to read information with an objective look, without excessive pictures and without flames to other brands / people.

Users are not journalists. People have opinions. Technology forums are about debate, information and friendship.

That's the way it is bud.

So what's Spam about a thread regarding discussion of up and coming technology? What about that is Spam? Spam would be splitting it into a multitude of different threads and having nothing to do with the forums general topic.

I'm assuming this place is mainly a Video Card and PC Technology forum?

You owe no apologies to me, but to Obi you do. Calling someone a failure is a personal insult.

An opinion is fine but do bring it as an opinion and don't call other people who use other brands dumb names.

I agree with you there. But you can call a company dumb names.

Like I could say AMD sucks and have my reasons for feeling that way. If someone who is a fan of AMD takes offense that's his/her problem. (I don't think AMD sucks for the record).

If that's what you mean by targetting people and calling them names, that's indirectly and it's the person who takes offense's fault for having the so-called love affair with the particular company in the first place.

That's my 2 cents.

news about ati from hardware news websites = spam?
for me it is information...the definition of spam is quite different in my opinion...
for me it is not interesting...but some other like it...why not keep it?
ok...he has time to post...whats wrong about that? keeping the forum alive...
he has much enthusiasm...whats wrong about that? that makes him friendly...

sorry but posts like this....smallminded...your reasons are no reasons in my eyes...i guess there happened something face-to-face...

Spam is about posting useless, unrequested or irrelevant data into any public space in either unacceptable manners, quantity or quality.

I did a small analysis right towards the end of the Thread, indicating the anomalies found.

Yes, it's a Hardware related space, but for a second, imagine this :

What if... every User picked on a specific, upcoming hardware and would post 100 times with just about every news, speculation or blurred imagery found anywhere in the net ??

All Chaos would break loose and I'd be hard-pressed to close the Forum alltogether.

There are Forums for things exactly like that, but this isn't one of them (within limits).

Umm to answer your question.. you'd have a hardware discussion forum..:p So long as it's kept into a single thread. Also the sheer fact that the thread was very popular and spurred discussion is a testament to what your users want... no?

Repeated copy & paste with bits & pieces from all over the place, over half a year ?. Yes, that eventually becomes Spam in here.

If people want to view massive Hardware Reviews converted into Forum Threads : there are some excellent Pages for that, but not this place.

I'm getting tired of this.

Yes, our definitions of Spam might differ.
Yes, maybe I'm smallminded with my definition

Live with it.
There's a gazillion Forums out there, I'm sure their Admin's definition for Spam varies greatly...
No reason to loose any sleep over a single tiny one like this remote space.

Actually my definition of Spam is the one in the Dictionary. But hey... that doesn't matter eh?

The Thread was very popular ?

Please provide 10 Links from established external Hardware Review Websites, pointing to it for its unique qualities.

If found valid, I will immediately make it sticky and even give it its very own Hardware Discussion Sub-Forum.

Fact is :
- Only very few people participated.
- Obi talked to himself 'more than once' (politely spoken)
- Others were rather annoyed over time (I've seen people banned before in other Forums for spamming up their Post count)

That's more like the reality of the Thread.

---
Actually yes, where you got your definition of "spam" from is indeed irrelevant. You've not responsible here.
Remember, this is a Forum, not a Federal Government.
