FSAA 3x?
25.07.04 at 18:15:15

wasn't sure where to post this.

3dfx used Rotated Grid for their FSAA right?

So I was thinking: how many times does a frame get rotated at 2x FSAA?
And if you'd increase this would the quality of anti aliasing get better?

Suppose you'd add an option where the frame get's rotated an amount that's
between FSAA 2x and 4x. Wouldn't this theoretically give you FSAA 3x?

Okay, I'm possibly way off here since I don't really understand the technical aspect of RGAA so please forgive me if I'm being stupid here Grin

Well, the Grid is static, so once the rotation is selected, it remains steady.

There's Temporal AA available within MesaFX nowadays however, and other experiments also included (as you suggested) a fully/dynamically rotating Grid per Frame.
