Quote:I agree with you there. But you can call a company dumb names.
Like I could say AMD sucks and have my reasons for feeling that way. If someone who is a fan of AMD takes offense that's his/her problem. (I don't think AMD sucks for the record).
If that's what you mean by targetting people and calling them names, that's indirectly and it's the person who takes offense's fault for having the so-called love affair with the particular company in the first place.
That's my 2 cents.
Of course it's possible to call a company dumb names on a forum. And about 'the people who feel offensive', that's not my point. Imagine you read a book and you have an Apple and a Pear company:
"Those Peardiots have such a bad image quality, they can never keep up with Apple nor with FruityFX. Besides, Apple is releasing new products within the month (note: Everyone knows the product has been delayed for 3 months and previews shows it's far behind Pear) and they will rock because this (insert link) benchmark shows it's very good. (And the other 99 benchmarks show Pear is good). And then, look at this site (insert link), they say Pear is very good and Apple falls behind (they have a constructive story there). What an idiots, they are just pro-Pear."
All the sentences in () are comments. Imagine reading the store above in lot's of replies again, and again, and again and again. If someone tells it's a bit 'Pro-Apple' and it's not fun to read Pearidiots anymore you'll get a blast off that "it's my opinion and Pear sucks anyway".
Numerous of replies in the like as shown above (or somewhat like it) are considered spam to me and to be honest: I rather read an objective reply about something. Probably it's difficult to be a fanboy and talk positive about other brands...
By the way, don't get me wrong on this. I don't hate people if they are a fanboy and/or do the 'Facts' FalconFly stated. The only thing is that it's getting annoying to read it thousand times and after a while and if it comes to the point the one who posts all the 'Facts' FalconFly stated gets a bit irritated and agitated.
