Started SMD soldering today, had no time the last two days.

Sadly my smallest soldering-tip is broken-down Sad With the next bigger soldering-tip it is more difficult to solder, but it works.

Here a picture:

New Dongle is finished and works a little bit better than the old one, but the main problem is still present. The colors are not sync or calculated 100% right.

Here a few 3DMark05 AF-Tube pictures.

As you can see some parts are inverted right, some not. I'm sure this has something to do with the transistors, but I don't know the right one to be used. Now I really need to consult some developers at my work, but these guys are hard to get hold of.

Naturally Smiley

Used transistors are:
PNP -> SMBT2222A
NPN -> SMBT2907A

These should be fast enough, but the characteristics seem to be wrong.

Hi everybody Smiley

Had time to play around a bit with the dongles I made and this is what happened:
...

This is the best inverted image the dongle did so far Smiley The key is to reduce the brightness within Windows-Settings or the Driver-Settings. This does make sense because the dongle also inverts the brightness of the colors and by default the colors are bright. So by reducing the brightness it boosts the inverted colors.

Then I had another idea. What if I connect both dongles?

Well, see it yourself Wink
...

The image is a little bit diffuse, but the colors are inverted back absolutely correct! There are also no stripes with bad inverted colors!

This does show me one thing: The transistors are fast enough!

Why the inverted image does still have some problem, I don't know. Maybe the dongle circuit only works right from inverted to normal?!

Would like to hear your ideas about that Smiley

I'll test using the OS the drivers support, getting drivers for all those operating systems would be a miracle.

@gdonovan :

Did you find C++ programer to compile/optimize Rampage source drivers for all OS system ?

Perhaps we can creat topic on 3dfxzone.it/enboard and ask SFFT to help us. Is it a good idea ?

Who designed and built the original dongle? Was that 3dfx? The date on the pcb seems quite late. If it was built at 3dfx there must be more info to be found.

Who owns it now again? Is it Sirta?
