The fan IS awesome!  Functionally, it works good and there's lots of air movement.  And looks, well, it looks good already straight from the factory.  You've improved it greatly and I just added another colour.  Smiley

I was surprised by how big the robot is.  But since it's from the 80's, it only makes sense.

Well, apparently I bought another V6K.  This time a Rev.A2 2600 with E-Tag!  It is unconfirmed functional however, it needs capacitor C79 replaced (once I find out it's value) and internal power hookup done.  E-Tag reads that it's good, so I will have my fingers crossed after the repairs have been made.

Looks like my v6k's evil twin Smiley I would not do an internal hook-up it looks much nicer without. I'd try to find a compatible 4 pin plug to do an external to internal molex cable that can be easily detached and would look better overall.
Good luck with it hope it works.

I think both luck and hard work definitely played a part in me aquiring this card.  In all reality I would not have gotten this card if Captain Harris had not sent me the link and information leading to the card, without him this card may be in a dumpster.  Then again it wasn't too hard as the person who owned it was planning on just throwing it out, he thought he couldnt even get the cost of shipping for it.  Let's just say I proved him wrong in half a heart beat, and then got the card 2 days later.  Cheesy

OMG OMG OMG! HAHAH  Shocked  Grin  Cheesy  Cool

I took the day off and drove 1 hour north to have the HiNT chip replaced by Altron Inc. , and now I have a functional 2600A2. (THANK YOU Tim for hooking me up with a spare HiNT HB1-SE66 chip from the eBay auction on 2/14/10)

Now to do some testing.  The card functions in 2d/3d, so now the question is whether or not AA modes will work, and stability is somethign to check out.  I will be reporting back after more testing is done.

... ... ...

07/11/2010 - Bought card as non-functional from Keatah on 3dfxzone.it
09/27/2010 - Had IPC certified college instructor John Gammell at Dakota County Technical College remove CR4, replacing missing C79, and add through-hold power terminals.  Card was still non-functional.
04/08/2011 - Had Altron Inc. replace the HiNT HB1-SE66 chip on the card.  Card is now functional!

I am amazed that the card works. Jaw status = dropped.

/EDIT: I can confirm that the card is very stable. I have had it looping a Q3A demo and it's still running like a dream. I also tested 2x/4x/8x AA for about 5 minutes each, and it was stable!

(little did I know that when I took the picture above the game was running in 4x AA) Hehe

Didn't you inquire at Altron Inc. if reballing the original HiNT bridge chip was enough?

Nah, since I had the replacement chip it seemed like a better option.  I still have the old chip though, and can reball/reuse if needed. If the chip was fried I'm not sure reballing would help...

... Wink

I'm very very happy for you, and equally happy that I sold one to you. Well done. Smiley

I'm glad the last resort did the trick. I can't believe you've got a functional 2600! YESSSS!! Seriously impressed here!!!

That reminds me that I still have got two Hint chips here.

@rottentreats congrats man on getting the card repaired. I'm glad to see a sibling v6k up and running as it should.

I've added a heastink to mine to avoid a burnt Hint bridge but I also have some spares for my v6k 2600RevA2 just in case.
...

Cheers,
