Why a Duron 1400, it doesn't seem to be supported by your board? Try bios version 1.07 with your cpu's
Check the cpu numbers very carefully some are very similar between bus speed versions 266mhz and 333mhz ect

One of the guys on here Razrx I think it was, yeah, confirmed that this was the fastest my board could run,so I went with it,it initially had a Duron 1200 in it,which,I still have somewhere Smiley

Maybe you are looking for the Duron 1300? The 1400, 1600 and 1800 models are based on the Applebred-core which is basically a 130nm Thoroughbred-B core with disabled L2-cache. The Duron 1300 is the fastest 'old' Duron on 180nm with a Morgan core.

The Applebred-based CPU's have a 133MHz (DDR266) FSB and the Morgan's run with 100MHz (DDR200).

http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-ASUS/A7V133.html

Have a look at this, has all the chip numbers as well.
Choose one and check elsewhere to confirm it works.

Oh buggar,so that means the Duron 1400 I just bought won't work with it then,BUT,the athlon xp 1800 I have in now will work at it's true speed if I update the BIOS Shocked

Only with pcb 1.05 according to the table, I expect the Duron might run but at a lower clock speed  Undecided

Confusing as later revisions support a higher fsb.

I had the same problem determining whether i could stick my voodoo 3 into the agp slot on my a7a266.

I do have an Athlon not Duron 1200 that will go in  Cheesy
I'll just use that, like I say,it's gonna be used to play old games on,thats it,I don't fancy trying to flash the BIOS in old machines either,I've done it on my main board (ASUS P5n32-sli),but that was dead simple,I wouldn't know DOS from BROS  Grin an I don't have a floppy disk
Thanks everyone on here for your help btw, much appreciated Smiley

I did my a7a266 using CD's, boot using win98se to DOS prompt with cd support. Then put in a cd with the flash tools and new bios on.
